Romney is not and never has been a true conservative--at best he might feel obliged to represent conservative values because he needs conservatives for reelection. This page on Tom Hoefling's campaign website only underscores what we already knew. Romney and those like him in the Republican Party consider those who stand for the values that made this nation great a distraction and an embarrassment. We must not back down and we must not give in--to do so would be to signal to Romney and his ilk that we are willing to sacrifice our principles for rhetoric, and not even all that much rhetoric at that.
